FORKED ROADS…

There it came, a fork along the lonely road,
As I trudged down, bearing the “world’s load”.
The path to take, I should’ve known,
But the signs en route perplexed me, as they turned, wind blown!

Not a soul to consult, as I blankly gazed,
Into the gently illuminated indigo skies,
The hue deepening, as the sun lost its blaze…

Left alone with the whistling wind,
The right path, mine to find…
When the heavens used all their power to catch my sight,
They sent to my right, a flash of light…

The bolt would never strike the same place twice,
My decision was taken in a trice…
The “right” road I took, trudging on, bearing the “world’s load”…Image

PARADOX AGE!

Our houses might grow,
Where are all the people though?
More conveniences we have at our disposal,
But no time to make a single proposal!
Acquire we do, many a degree,
Then why does life seem a senseless spree?
The magnitude of our knowledge is sound,
Why the “judging” ability we have not found?
Expertise we’ve mastered in every field,
Still our problems refuse to ever yield…
Any and every drug we have made,
Then why so early our health does fade?
We’ve visited the stars, We’ve visited the moon,
Then how did we miss our neighbor who shifted this noon?
So much we focused on the quantity,
We forget when last we did have quality…
As we tread in the times of fast food,
Is the slow digestion the bug, corrupting our mood?
As we grow, only in stature,
Why is our character suffering a fracture?
As our profit stats might rocket toward the heavens,
A blind eye we turn, as our shallow relationship beckons…
It is a time when, to the world, we want to show,
That which we don’t possess, of which we may not know…
In the 21st century we are, at least the numbers do say,
I wonder how many we’ll need to find the right way…

IT’S IRONICAL!!

Striving all his life to earn it all..

Failing to realize: Life indeed is very small!

Young days, he spends all his time

Working toward a future sublime…

The present, a gift, in which he lives not

The future unknown: surprises fraught

The effort put in, pays! But does take a toll,

Health, a neglected priority, an obstacle to the ultimate goal…

The “future”, now his present, not as foreseen,

Resources diverted, Spends all the paper green!

To recuperate his health, which is at its low,

His past “future vision” did fade slow…

And finally as the end draws near,

The realization dawns, he sheds a tear…

In his early life he did make a call…

Which was finally answered: The voice said: ” YOU HAVE NOT LIVED AT ALL! “

IT’S BEEN A WHILE…

Since I saw her, it’s been a while…

Gulping the pain with a smile.

Every moment just incomplete!

Every victory, no different from defeat!

Her mere presence comforts the mind,

Oblivious to the world, myself I do find

As I get lost in the depth of those eyes..

Only to be shaken by those heart-tearing bye’s..

Depart do we, only to meet again,

The time will come, but I don’t know when..

But it’s been a while indeed since we last met,

Till then cherishing the past, pleasure I do get…

WHEN SHE’S IN FRONT…

Come she in front,
All senses go from sharp to blunt!
Fettered by her aura, time stood still
Every moment inducing a new thrill…
Lots to express, a million things to say
But a few words is all that I manage to lay
Too little an offering to take her heart away!
The glow in her eyes: the epitome of beauty
Lost I do get, forgetting all duty…
For when in front she comes, upon me dawns a trance
My heart skips a beat upon her every glance!
Back to reality, time truly did fly by,
And before it strikes me, it’s time to bid good-bye
Come you in front, and made is my day,
Come you in front again, is all I’d like to say…

CHANGING MINDS….

A fleeting moment, A creeping thought

Appropriated my mind, My attention it caught…

The feeling of a lad, on seeing that red balloon,

Longing for but walking past on that Sunday noon….

Fettered by its “web”, motionless I lay,

Unable to utter, a word I could not say!

Like a malignant cancer, encapsulated me…

Senses dulled! Eyes open, yet unable to see…

Engrossed in thought as it worked on my mind,

No logical reason, no solution could I find…

Restless, against my will, as time stood still,

When suddenly another thought, my mind did fill….

SUNSET…

The burning sphere reached it’s peak,

The chances of  staying there were bleak…

It was a matter of time before it fell,

For, how long at that position could it dwell?

A novice in the water, unable to swim,

It’s chances of survival were rather slim…

The waters engulfed it as it descended,

It’s flames quenched, the fire ended…

But the fire that burnt was from within,

Defeat was unacceptable! It had to win…

With vengeance it would rise yet again,

Renewed vigor, it burst into flames then,

Breaking free from the shackles, unfettered it was,

And it rose from the horizon where it’s quest did pause…

The sun a martyr, it’s life it did lay,

Only to show mankind a brand new day…
